Spina Bifida of South Florida was formed by a group of concerned parents in 1981 to help individuals and families affected by spina bifida. The organization was incorporated in the State of Florida in 1982 as the Spina Bifida Association of Southeast Florida. It is recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.

Spina Bifida of South Florida’s mission is to help improve the lives of individuals and families affected by spina bifida. It acts as a resource which provides information and emotional support, as well as sponsoring social events, programs and educational conferences. The organization’s primary service area includes Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach, Monroe and Lee Counties.
